Your post 3 is a really well thought out and inclusive approach to teaching a sensitive yet highly necessary topic. I really appreciated how your team had a highly practical approach and prioritized inclusion through the utilization of multiple modalities like videos, images, texts and audios. The use of Padlet for anonymous participation is especially thoughtful for students who may feel shy or anxious. Something I would like to know more about in more detail is how a student might creatively express themselves using the tools listed. Overall though, I think you havecreated a strong foundation that not only supports accessibility but also promotes empathy and self-expression. Great job!

I really enjoyed reading your post, Experiential Learning and Implementation on Teaching about Cyberbullying and Mental Health through Social Media, as I feel like it very strongly highlights the importance of hands on learning in addressing social issues like cyberbullying and mental health. I thought your idea of using of using role playing activities putting students into situations where they can interact with these topics with different perspectives is an excellent way to develop a greater understanding and empathy.

A question I had for further discussion is how would you plan to adapt these role playing activities for younger students and students whose past experiences inhibit them from participating. Also is there a way where we can further incorporate social media into these activities?

Overall, I think this method is one that aligns very strongly with this topic. Incorporating action along with the theory is a great method to equip students greater critical thinking regarding these social issues. Great work!

Introduction Post

Hello, my name is Devin and I am a third year Neurobiology major here at UVic. I grew up in Vancouver and moved out to Victoria when I was 11. I come from immigrant families on both my mother and fathers side making my background very multicultural which I feel gives me a different perspective on the world. My favourite things to do in my down time is playing sports like soccer and tennis, spending time with my friends and watching movies. I am still in the process of deciding what I want to do with my career but I suspect it will be in the medical/personal care fields. What drew me to taking this class was the prospect of taking a class with a different delivery to what I am used as well as developing new skills.
